An old fashioned recipe is awesome if you have a sweet tooth and also enjoy a cocktail once in a while. It’s definitely unique from the other stuff out there like gin and tonics and margaritas as far as taste goes, and it’s not too hard to throw together.
You don’t have to use the special mixing glass or the funny looking spoon, but it does add to the experience.
To start things off, grab your simple syrup. Mine’s in the squirt bottle pictured below. You’ll want to do about a teaspoon of that (about a squirt) into the mixing glass.
Then, grab your bitters.
Squirt some of the old-fashioned bitters into your cocktail stirring glass. You really don’t need much of that.
Then, grab your bourbon and measuring jigger. I used Two Stars straight bourbon whisky for this old-fashioned recipe.
Measure out about 2 ounces of bourbon.
After that, throw some ice cubes in there and mix things around.
Then, mix it around some more and pour it out the strainer into a glass with ice.
Your old fashioned recipe is almost done, but now you need to get the fruit, too.
Grab your orange and cut off a little tiny slice like the one pictured below:
Set that on the side of the glass and then grab your cherries. It’s okay if the orange goes into the glass, too.
Put one dessert cherry in the glass.
There you go – one finished old fashioned recipe ready to drink!
